Being apart of numerous grass root progressive organizations, I have observed an unbridled commitment and enthusiasm by the members towards fighting this oppressive capitalist system. The only problem in which I have seen is that despite having similar goals and agendas too many of these parties are too small and operate within a vacuum. This is why the Bridgefield Civic League is hosting the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Bronx United Front Forum. The purpose of this is to bring activists and groups operating throughout the Bronx together in order to establish open communication channels that allows us to fight for our liberation more effectively.
This is essential because it allows us to begin to formulate a more organized movement that acts as an effective counterweight to the two party system domination of power. The only way change happens is by the people taking to the streets and demanding what's theirs, this is our ability to do so. If not then we are stuck in the same cycle, watching as poverty continues to violently fixate itself into our lives, eroding us of happiness, security, stability and human dignity. We have to form a counterbalance to those in power, and it starts through pooling resources on the most local of levels, it starts at home. It starts by bringing the revolution to the poorest borough in the largest city in America. We cannot wait idly believing some savior will randomly appear and solve all the problems that we are dealing with. We have to be the change that we want to see.
