Neo-Colonialism; a brief take

It is no hidden secret that the United States foreign policy is imperial. Whenever private American capital interests needs a new market to expand into. America will destabilize, invade, bomb, overthrow or whatever is deemed necessary for a certain business to have control over that market. This can be seen in the ways that the majority of natural resources are owned and distributed by American or European private companies. This neo-colonial project is to blame for conditions in which the majority of the people of the “third world” live today.

The most obvious victims of this economic game are the African masses. Here we can clearly see numerous regimes that only have legitimacy through foreign backing. If countries like the United States, France, Russia, Israel and China do not support these regimes with military and financial backing, they would collapse overnight. This is good for a few political and economic elites within third world nations, but the masses of the people live in a state of poverty. This is because the people do not own their natural resources.

The United States has an obligation of reparations, as does every other nation that has benefited from extracting natural resources from the global south to be used for their own national development. Programs like the World Bank and IMF have been the prime runners of this neo-colonial project. If we want to create a better future for everybody on this planet than the United States must do its part in rejecting its history and providing a blank check with no stipulations to all the places that it has stolen from. Or it must find another way of redistributing global wealth inorder to end poverty worldwide. This situation is only more vital as the climate crisis continues to ravage the global south.
