On Hopelessness

The number one way oppression is legitimized is by seeding the idea of hopelessness into the minds of those it seeks to oppress . It seeks to create a population embroiled in nihilism, people who vent tirelessly about the issues at hand, yet fail to do much of anything in order to see those issues addressed. The hopelessness that exists in the 21st century, in years of the Covid-19 Pandemic, is present on the face of every being that wakes up everyday to crawl forth and labor to uphold a dying, decrepit system of global capitalism. It leaves numerous circles of people fighting to create a better world, stuck in their own echo chambers where they are unintelligible to the masses of the people. If we are to be true revolutionaries, then we must think in a way that revolutionizes. But what does that mean?

It means that those of us who are hopeless, must get up and get organized, if we want our hopelessness to cease. It is clear that the majority of the problems that are faced in the modern world exist due to a failure of economic policy. If one takes the time to do some reasoning it would be clear to see that a world in which wealth is more equally divided, would create a world in which social problems are less tense. This is also a world where women have more rights in both a progressive and conservative fashion, as a woman's role is truly something that can only be decided by a woman. People who are content with their lives and can find tangible ways to change the trajectory of their lives, easily, if so desired. This is what an economy needs to do in order to run effectively. This can happen in the economic system of capitalism or socialism, in our case the economic system has been capitalist, and this system has failed.

For this reason alone, for the sake of our futures and our children. We, the hopeless masses must never cease to put pressure on those who own the natural resources of our nation. This cannot be done simply through elections, as much as we may wish. The only time political change comes, is from everyday people like you and I, taking the future into our own hands by any means necessary.

Oppression robs the people of this will power; it strives to pit people who suffer the same grievances to be pitted against each other for reasons as petty and trivial as skin complexion. The ruling class of this country, either hold the masses in utter contempt or their analysis of the situation is correct; we are nothing more than an ignorant mob. Whatever your personal view on the owners of wealth, it is obvious that if we desire to shed our hopelessness and move in the direction of the future, we must destroy the institutions of wealth. The question is clear, who will own the wealth? Either we all will or only a few. No one person should have the ability to own natural resources such as coal, or oil. These resources were violently stolen from indigenous nations, and they must be returned. Collective control over our future is the only way forward. It is only a people, working for the betterment of their people, who can decide how to allocate resources for their people.

It is too late to pander to people and cry for mercy from those whose freedom is fundamentally juxtaposed to ours. Our motive should be simple and clear; develop something new. Learn from the mistakes of history, see where economic systems succeeded and where they failed. And see how to adapt this to all the crises we currently face. The last must come first. Meaning that if the homeless person is not included in the process of creating a new society, then the society is doomed from the start.

We must work to achieve a true democracy, not just a series of votes. We must work together and lift every voice so that they can be projected into the future. We must fundamentally restructure housing, city layout, transportation, employment, trade and much more.

The job of the hopeless is not to reject this responsibility of creating our new future, by curling into patterns of abusive/self destructive behavior. The job is to fight until we win.
